"With the Spirits of Times Past"
I see or rather feel something similar in these photos. They relay similar feelings, I think, all grounded in a distant past, now apparently "lifeless," but alive to those who can feel, and imagine, and remember. They are, I think, evocative photos, a mode with which I feel much at home. But then, each was taken in solitude and quiet, with only Rummy near by (or Zoe in South Dakota). Some folks like to go in churches; I feel more at home in old farmsteads, or in the expanse of nature. I guess I am at home in the haunts of spirits of years past. In truth, I am not trying to be nostalgic, or anything. Just seeing and feeling what is in front of me. So much is "there," but these sites stand largely forgotten and ignored. Virtually never have I found anyone visiting these farmsteads and old fields. As I said, or implied, I feel much at home there--with the spirits of times past.
