During the previous two Sundays, we have established the fact that Lent is about experiencing God. It is a call for us to renewal and revival of our faith. It is a time for mourning for our sins, and at the same time rejoicing for the grace of God’s mercy.
Today, the Third Sunday of Lent, Jesus is bringing us into the city temple. Like the desert (1st Sunday) and the mountain (2nd Sunday), the city temple is a place of encountering God.
Jesus is inviting us today to look around our church and value the atmosphere for prayer and community that this little place is providing us. In this season of Lent, let us be mindful, not only of our own spiritual needs, but also the needs of our parish community – this temple in which God meets us in every liturgy, hugs us in every community gathering, comforts us in the prayers and kind words of others and heals our soul in every sacrament we receive. God meets us here, where you belong!
